ANKRD2, and belong to the ankyrin repeat protein family and play a critical role in the integration of cytoskeletal architecture, stress response, and transcriptional regulation. In this study, we cloned the cDNA and promoter sequences of porcine ankyrin repeat protein (Mduanyu37) gene family. RT-PCR analysis revealed that porcine gene was predominantly expressed in heart. ANKRD2 was widely expressed in many tissues, a high expression level was observed in the skeletal muscle and heart. Dduanyu37 gene was expressed specifically in skeletal muscle and heart. Moreover, the expression of Cduanyu37 and ANKRD2 was significantly different in porcine skeletal muscle among different developmental stages and between the two breeds. Expression analysis in porcine satellite cells showed that Cduanyu37 and ANKRD2 were induced in differentiated porcine satellite cells, suggesting a role of them in myogenic differentiation. This result suggests that the gene family may be important genes for skeletal muscle growth and provides useful information for further studies on their roles in porcine skeletal muscle.
